A tribute to the Native Americans

Wisdom

The three meanings of the sacred Eagle:
The Eagle’s wings represent the balance between the masculine and the feminine. In
Native American culture, the woman is central as a symbol of wisdom and life force; the woman is the
earthly embodiment of Mother Earth. All the secrets and lessons of nature are found in Mother Earth and therefore also within women.

Bravery

The three meanings of the sacred Eagle:
The Eagle represents ultimate physical and spiritual courage. Because it flies higher than any other bird, it is seen as the messenger between humankind and the Great Spirit, carrying prayers from
humankind to the heavens. And unlike other birds that take shelter from a storm, the
eagle uses the gusts of wind to soar even higher.

Freedom

The three meanings of the sacred Eagle:
The Eagle symbolises freedom because of its ability to rise above earthly limitations
and move through the boundless expanse of the sky. It flies higher than any other
creature. This symbolises the freedom of the soul to break free from worldly concerns.

My Eagle Dance collection seeks to reflect the beauty and wisdom of the Native Americans.
I find their view of nature deeply inspiring and how they are truly connected to nature, and to one another.
Various Native American tribes see the earth as a living being. In their view, not only humans, but also animals, plants, rivers,
mountains and the four elements have a spirit of their own. This means that they treat nature with the same respect
as a family member. The relationship with the earth is based on reciprocity: if you take something from nature
(such as food or wood), you must give something back, such as a prayer or an offering. This organic cycle
maintains the balance. The Eagle is one of the most sacred animals to the Native Americans; it represents
Wisdom, Bravery and Freedom. They believe that the Eagle possesses supernatural powers to assist in important matters.
Through the Eagle Dance ceremonies they connect with the spirits to pray.
